Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Year 10 Driver Education Program
Year 10 have commenced their 5 days of Driver Education. The week began with a mock accident where students witnessed everything that would happen on the scene by the first responders.
Students were also fortunate to hear from keynote speaker, John Maher, who recounted his personal experience losing his daughter, Carmen, in an accident.
This Driver Education program would not be possible without the year long planning by the Driver Education Committee. We also have over 50 local emergency responders and community members who have volunteered their time for the benefit of our students. We would like to thank them for their contribution.
Congratulations
Connor ‘CJ’ Wilson has claimed SILVER at the All Australian Athletics Championships throwing a whopping 17.34 in Shot Put! 🥈2nd in AUSTRALIA is AMAZING! 🙌
Congratulations from all of us at DHS! We are so proud of you 👏
Mathematics "Deriver’s" Licence
The Year 12 Maths Advanced students have received their ‘deriver’s’ licence to mark their ability to apply the Calculus concept of differentiation.
Food Technology - Site visit to Maccas!
The senior Food Technology class has been learning about the Australian Food Industry and were lucky enough to go on a site visit for their case study on McDonald's.
Students learnt about research and development, sustainability, quality assurance and the production processes that occur onsite.
We are very grateful to Josh and the Macca's crew for hosting us and answering all of our questions.
Tilly
Tilly, our school support dog, enjoyed being back in the classroom and catching up with our students around the school. 🐾
Our 'Great Vic Bike Ride' team
The participants led by a team of riders from Deni High, made their way down to South West Victoria for the newly reformatted event in its 41st year.
The ride included five days of cycling from November 24 to 28, totalling up to 364km with an overall elevation of 2808m.
Riders started Mortlake, and travelled to Camperdown via the Great Ocean Road.
Mrs Laing again helped lead the expedition, and said the whole group and support team had a great experience despite occasional inclement weather.
The ride was particularly rewarding for our students that had completed a year’s worth of training leading up to the ride!
Music Ensemble & Drumline Tour
After two days and four concerts, the DHS Music Ensemble and Drumline have had a great time performing for our local primary schools. Thanks Edward, Deni North, Mathoura and Deni South Schools for being such great audiences; we had a fantastic time playing for you. Thanks for having us!
